- If you want to achieve something amazing, then it’s always preceded by a period of preparation that can sometimes seem unexciting. But it’s absolutely necessary.
- Always keep your focus on maximising your business’s value. If the long term aim is to sell and exit, then write that into your DNA from the beginning.
- In the run up to selling your business, allow yourself a period of triage, during which you can optimise it for sale. Generally this period should last between six and eighteen months.
- Optimisation for sale should always leave a little breathing room for new investors to take it forward. There should always be some potential for development, that new hands can exploit.
